Wild as the Wind.

Today has been one of those days when you just want to smack a few people and tell them to get over it.
There is just something about people lately that gets on my nerves really badly. Its my fault though I know that, I shouldn't have such a short fuse, but some things just can't be helped.

I Found A Reason

Today if possible, I feel worse than yesterday.
I'm getting so angry with people and so upset with things, things which aren't really that bad.

Sunday 22 November 2009

Stacks.

So I'm not quite sure how to feel right now.
For one or more reasons I'm feeling a little lost, a little stuck in that lost place. Hopefully I'll find my way again soon, as for now I'm most certainly nowhere I want to be.
Getting lost is only good when you find somewhere new, somewhere you'd like to visit again; I don't want to visit here again. Ever.
I say the things I don't tell others. No one checks this place, its fine, this is the place that's there for all to see yet no one looks.
Hidden right in the open.
Hopefully a good nights sleep will make me feel better in the morn, if not, I guess I'll don the mask as per usual.
Everything is fine as long as its viewed from behind a wall.

A Cold Wind Blows Through Your Door.

Todays shoot with Deary went well. We got through the photos she wanted for her work and then we got to shoot mine. I'm happy with the result.

Internal Dialogue

I got another fantastic reply off Dave McKean yesterday, though still not what I should have been asking about...well not the most 'pressing' of things anyway.

Saturday 14 November 2009

Bad Romance.

Now usually I'm not really a fan of Lady Gaga...at least I never used to be, but since the release of Bad Romance and its obscurely beautiful video I simply adore her...though I must say on the MTV awards she looked like a walking piece of surreal art - masterpiece.

Anyway...today I 'contacted' ...tweeted...the amazing Dave McKean about his work and got a fantastic reply, I'll sleep contently tonight!

Power-Trip Ballad

Maria Mena ♥ !!!

Well today has been both good and bad, did a photoshoot with Deary, a makeup/styling test for a project I hope to do at uni...preparation is key!

But then a whole load of other stuff stressed me out and full on upset me, so its a win lose day for me today.

Go Make A Mess Of Yourself

Thomas Dybdahl, take a listen.

Can't believe I didn't post this as soon as it happen if I'm quite honest...but...I've finished my first book/novel...about 140,000 words and about 440 pages. Soooo I've now started book 2, though I haven't added to it in a while, so I'm going to have to get my lovely writing escape back. This world is far too uncontrollable for my liking.

Never the less:

  • The Awakening is complete.
  • The Mirror Edge is in progress.

Russian Roulette

'And you can see my heart beating. You can see it through my chest. And I’m terrified but I’m not leaving. Know that I must pass this test. So just pull the trigger'

I completely fell for this song, so having had it on repeat the most of the night after Coraline, I decided to edit another photo. Great form of thought distraction.

If only I could truly escape.

Grow Up and Blow Away

I got my contact print done today and 2 prints of the, pretty much only photos on the roll that were in focus...bummer. But nevermind ey.
So I got those prints, but not on fibre paper, I need to purchase some of that delightful stuff and then get to working with the trays, on monday.
Tomorrow I'm hoping to scan through some old photo albums and grab some photos for a possibly tutorial on Thursday. Though I'm a little undecided as to whether I really want a tutorial yet.

Today has been an ok day, I'm going to finish it with a drink though. I haven't had one in a while having said to someone that I'd cut down/stop.

Blue Lips

Personally I think everyone should listen to a bit of Regina Spektor from time to time...indulge in her brilliance.

Today has been pretty interesting really, did some contact sheets then when and photographed some random stranger old men in the street with the Hasselblad and then came home for some tasty food.

I'm excited that I've got the new A Fine Frenzy album on its way 'Bomb in a Birdcage' I'm a little excited.

I'll update with the some photos soon!

Broussard's Lament

I would recommend to anyone and everyone to listen to Sarah Jarosz's album 'Song Up In Her Head' it's completely amazing.

But down to business...I wrapped the majority of the Christmas presents I've got already, going to finish the rest once I buy the rest of the wrapping materials!

Diiirrrty Dianaaa ♥

What's my age again?

Today I've decided I'm going to try and blog more often and that each time I blog, I'll title it with a line/or name of/ from the song I'm listening the time.

So today I'm feeling a little better, though am more nausea affected than cold shakes, which could prove to be a good sign. I went for my eye test that I've been meaning to have for a good few months now after suffering from really bad eye strain and headaches on and off...turns out I'm in need of glasses when I'm on the p.c or reading. So I've ordered myself two pairs of glasses in a delightful by 1 get 1 free offer, which was lucky as the prices were still extortionate.

So when I got home I took the dogs for a walk and got to editing a photo...

Update.

From one thing or another, lately things just have been going a little wrong, but I'll take a deep breath, close my eyes and push forwards. Forward is the only place to go. No point going backwards because that gets you to places you'd rather not visit ever again.
So in desperate need of distraction, I shot the top photo. It only took a couple of hours to do the hair, makeup and the shoot itself, as the subject is myself. The outcome doesn't really look like me much and for all the reasons in the world and more...I couldn't be happier with that fact.

As per usual I've done a few shoots with Deary, the above image was from a shoot for her current Uni work based about nightmares, the shot I've uploaded and edited has very little to do with her work other than the concept as...its not going to be used in her work as it's my editing for my own ends.
The two photos below were originally going to just be a test shoot in water, but once the shots were taken during the editing process we really liked the shots and decided that the concept of 'Ophelia in the water' was something we had unintentially connected to.
And yes...these shots were taken in my bath.
This final shot is from a group set build at Uni, its a conceptual take on the Blade Runner film. Shot on 120mm film with a beautiful beast of a Hasselblad camera.

Thursday 30 July 2009

I cannot believe.

I've just finished reading The Books of Pellinor series by Alison Croggon and my word they are amazing! Its times like these that I wish I could jump inside a book.
My only condition would is that I'm also a Bard, with super duper powers, but then...Cadvan? or Arkan...though if Maerad has Cadvan, Arkan's all mine! =] ♥ ♥ ♥

Tuesday 14 July 2009

♥ HARRY POTTER ♥

Tomorrow I'm off to see the new Harry Potter film - Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince.
I'm looking forward to the attractive Snapey goodness of the film!

03.06.09 - A Good Day To Die

03.06.09 was the date these were taken and due to my love of the number 3 this was a great day to go photographing...and body dumping. Once again makeup, styling, editing and photographing was done my me. Models - Laura Hickey and Di Emerson, props were also provided by Di Emerson - who is also a photographer on my course. - http://www.flickr.com/photos/diemersonphotography/

Trevor and Dearie

This has got to be possible the funnest shoot ever, Laura (Deary) was once again the model, though this time she was both male and female. Shot using the Hasselblad with a Digital back. Makeup, styling, photography and editing are all done by me. Model - Laura Hickey who is also an Artist - http://www.flickr.com/photos/laura_ann_hickey/

Bored to Death

Pretty much self explanitory.

Update continued

The Predator and The Prey.

Update...

Well I haven't been on here in ages, been extremely busy with University work. Well good news now is that I'm off for the Summer hols. So if I remember there'll be plenty of posts.

So I guess I need to fill in all the blanks from the past few months.

Well after the landscape project we were sat a fashion project - my concept was The Predator and the Prey, where I then transformed my model (who was Deary like normal) into a Zebra, Antelope, Lion and Cheetah, which was undeniably fun. We did four shoots at my house using a black backdrop, then did the final shoots at Uni using the white curve and the Hasselblad.

Here are the test shots:

These were shot using my Canon 450D but I also used 35mm film.
I shot using my Canon 450D along with 35mm film and 120 medium format film and digital on the Hasselblad - Great fun!
I'll post some more of this project...
